What is a White Roof?

Adhesive Bonds
The Malarkey shingles are more dependable than normal shingles partially due to the adhesive bonds. These shingles have 6 bonds: 1 wind bond, 2 rain bonds, and 3 laminate synthetic rubber adhesive. Incorporating these different types of bonds, ensure high protection from high winds, wind-driven rain, and shingle delamination (the process of exposure to UV rays which causes wind and water damage). The 3M™ Smog Reducing Granules is one of the most significant features in the Malarkey shingles. The function of these granules is to take smog-like gasses, such as Nitrogen Dioxide, and turn them into water-soluble salt ions that rinse off of the roof's shingles when it rains. The shingles do this by harnessing sunlight which is then converted by a process called photocatalytically. This makes Malarkey shingles very sustainable because they help to clean the air of emission-based pollutants. These pollutants, such as smog, are harmful to our environment by damaging crops and trees which in turn contributes to poor air quality. By incorporating the 3M™ Smog Reducing Granules into Malarkey shingles, it reduces air pollution to the equivalent of planting two trees.
